We've been big fans of Billy Bragg for a long time, and if you haven't been paying attention to him, you're missing out. Billy's music is unparalleled no matter what genre you're looking for, from folk & singer-songwriter to punk and protest music, with his career spanning 40 years... so far, and he's not slowing down.
Besides the epic performance we know we are going to get, Billy playing at Carnival is especially significant to Musack and the inspiration we draw from Woody Guthrie (This machine kills fascists) because of his Mermaid Avenue albums that released unheard Woody Guthrie lyrics.
Billy's latest project, a collaboration with Joe Henry, Shine a Light: Field Recordings from the Great American Railroad, recorded at various points on a journey between Chicago and Los Angeles by train in March, is the music we need right now. Now, Billy is joining us for the 2017 Rock n' Roll Carnival during his Bridges Not Walls tour! Get ready for some punk rock, talent, and protest with us!
